Imagine Montessori School is a school that, in addition to teaching the traditional contents that a child should handle, also educates from the essential. That is, from the care of the planet and the environment in which we live; where nature converges with education to obtain a more enjoyable and friendly learning with the environment. How? Through its architecture and interior design. What happens in this remote place in Spain, in a residential area called La Valterna, located in the Ecobarrio La Pinada, is that the school was built in such a way that it has became an authentic sustainable work; something that is not minor if we mention that it is the first school in Spain to obtain double certification in sustainability: the BREEAM and GREEN. As for the structure and materials used, these were mostly wood and terracotta because of their minimal ecological footprint. Terracotta was used mainly in the load-bearing walls, in the solid brick vaults and in the pavement, while wood was used in the structure and in the roof panel, exterior and interior enclosures, as well as in the carpentry. This is how a building based on its ecological impact, manages to become the first didactic material that children have and their first source of learning. Gradolí & Sanz Arquitectes was the studio that carried out the construction of the school, whose approach is bioclimatic architecture allowed the building to have almost no environmental impact. In addition, external factors were taken into account for its construction, such as the ravine that can be seen through the windows of the classrooms, which provides an exceptional panoramic view for contemplation. An important point if we are talking about a type of education where there are no blackboards or the teacher's desk, but all the attention is placed on the visual connection that is generated by being in contact with nature, where the student develops freely according to their own needs and interests.
