ELIGE MADERA Milex Impregnated Lumber – A Solution to Protect Against Humidity and Mold Milex impregnated lumber is a type of wood that has undergone a highly controlled industrial process that involves injecting a preservative into the material. At CMPC, for example, we’ve impregnated this lumber with micronized copper salts, guaranteeing protection against mold, corrosion, rot, and insects (including subterranean termites); so Milex has a 100% Structural Certification. Even though the industrial process interferes with the wood, the quality never falters in terms of physical-mechanical properties such as traction, compression or bending. Even though the industrial process interferes with the wood, the quality never falters in terms of physical-mechanical properties such as traction, compression or bending. Starting as early as the impregnation process, the wood is totally ready and safe to be used. It also becomes a versatile product and its useful life, after this treatment, can be extended up to 50 years. As well as producing lumber that is adaptable for many different types of structures, we’re also reducing the pressure on our native forests and lowering CO2 emissions (compared to the use of traditional materials such as steel and cement.) It’s important to mention that our Milex impregnated wood can also be found kiln-dried (a process occurring before and after impregnation), which means a reduced moisture content of less than 20%. As for its applications, it’s recommended for many uses, both indoors and outdoors. When used outdoors, it can be installed directly on the ground, in contact with soil or even fresh water.
